Wine

I have installed wine, but when i click to use it, it says: wine needs a windows executable as a parameter.
Would somebody please help me?

p.s. I have checked other websites with F.A.Qs on them and I cant seem to find an answer to this problem.

Welcome to LQ.

Wine is not a standalone program. You need to tell it what Windows program you want to use. Think of it as an emulator for specific programs rather than emulating Windows as a whole. For example, you could tell it to run calc or notepad by giving it something like:
wine /mnt/win_c/Windows/calc.exe
I believe that you may also need to specify which version of Windows you want it to immitate.

I have SuSe 8.0 personal, and I click on --->system--->emulator--->wine, thats when it gives me the error. I don't see a space to specify what programs I want to load. Would I do that from the konsole? If so, what is the wine tab for under emulator?

Yep, console it is! You can, of course, edit the 'link' and give some parameters, but console it definitely the easiest way.
