Wine

hey guys,

I've been fiddling around with wine, and some programs are working seamlessly for me, except one small detail.. the window size..

the desktop changes its resolution on me, and the corners of the screen is going off the monitor on me.. I've seen some screen shots where the window was set to a resolution.. how can I set a windows resolution to avoid this problem?

Look in your ~/.wine/config file. That is, the config file in the hidden "wine" directory (turn on "Show hidden files and folders" in your file manager to see it), in your home directory.

Scroll down until you see a setting along the line of

Managed="Y"

Change this setting to "N", or put a "; " sign in front of the word "Managed".

Right below it there should be a setting that says

Desktop=<XXXxYYY>"

Change the window size to whatever you want (I suggest one setting below your desktop resolution). If there is a " ; " sign in front of the Desktop= setting, remove it (as that is the "comment" marker, meaning that any lines beginning with a semicolon will be ignored, not read, by Wine).

You can also set the Desktop= setting for individual applications, if you prefer, so that all apps run managed except Half-Life, for instance.

Hope this helps.

Hope
