windows Active Directory in wine

I have been persuading colleagues to use Linux, but AD is a big hurdle.

Is there a way to join AD and run programs that require it on *wine*? (not using likewise or similar)
they run nicely in virtualbox, but it takes too much RAM.

thanks.

SAMBA can act as a AD server. then you can use true Kerberos authentication against the AD and you are set. you can not authenticate via wine.

Might look at wine-ldap. Might be way more to this question also. If a program was installed in terminal service mode and is on the server it may need something like 2x.com's products.

It would also kind of assume that the wine app bypasses or integrates with ldap or other authentication. It may be that authenticating user on linux is all that is needed. We'd need to know much more.
