Windows Active Directory Groups with Linux Kerberos
Where I work, we use AD on Windows Server 2003.
I have set up my Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 to use Kerberos, Samba and Winbind so that I can log on to my box using domain credentials.
My question is: what happens to user/group permissions when using a Windows name on a Linux box?
For example, on my domain when using windows machines, I am a power user. I can add/remove programs and do most administrative stuff. There are regular users and administrative users.
When I log onto the SLES10 machine, I obviously do not have the power to install programs like I would on a windows machine. If an administrator logs in, I assume the same thing happens.
Is there a way to preserve these group powers so that users who are administrators on AD would also have administrative powers on a linux box? Power user powers? Etc?
Thank you for any insight!
