what is a good mp3 player for script developers? I've always liked the old winamp 2.x, and never install any of the newer ones. isn't there one for linux that's just like winamp? one more question, does the player come with the mpeg codec or is that an extra install?
XMMS is a winamp clone for linux and included in most distros. Most include mp3 playback support out of the box. The big exception is RH/Fedora which refuses to include mp3 support for legal reasons although an rpm to give this functionality is readily available.
Other popular music players are amarok, juke and rythmbox.

I'm using fedora 4. I like the package, but there are so many things they don't include for "legal reasons"
