Don't use the realplayer plugin - mplayer can play real streaming media.
See http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mplayer-fedora.html

Quote:
now it seems like ff2 cannot detect size of my screen.
... Firefox fits in your screen dosn't it? If some web pages don't fit, then it is the web pages that no longer detect your screen size. Perhaps this is because they are using a javascript screen object to setect your screen size, and you have javascript switched off in Firefox?

(Sometimes the website dosn't recognise that Firefox 2.0 is in use...)

Aside> from the Firefox FAQ:
Quote:
How do I abbreviate Firefox?
The preferred abbreviation is "Fx" or "fx".
... though I don't know anyone who uses the preferred abbreviation.

why is firefox not detecting only mplayer plugin?

downloaded firefox 2.0
extracted it
moved to /usr/lib64 since it's x86_64 firefox
command ./firefox
download + installed flashplayer, real player, and mplayer
downloaded mplayer font + skin for mplayer through yum
moved all *.so files to /usr/lib64/firefox2.0/plugins
moved all *.xpt files to /usr/lib64/firefox2.0/components
command firefox

firefox window showed up
typed "aboutlugins"
flash enabled
java enabled
realplayer enabled
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
not even showing up mplayer plugin...
deleted all totem plugins....
restarted firefox....
still not working...

now im about to quit linux...

please help me
thanks

You need to install mplayerplug-in, or whatever the name of the mplayer plugin is called in Fedora, which by your reference to Yum I assume is the distro you are using. Mplayer is the app you need the plugin in order for Firefox to use it.

16 posts and you are already ready to give up? Maybe Linux really isn't for you.

ppl just forget about this.
i figured out what was wrong i guess.
and here is the way to use firefox 2.0 +realplayer+divx browser +quicktime+windows media+mplayer+shockwaveflash+helix dna plugins...
Lol
delet ur firefox old one..
install new one.
there must be no problem having firefox 2.0 installed i believe....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i think everyone know how to install plugins...move *.so -> plugins, *.xpt -> components (* means everything)
so...
now install realplayer 9(gold)
flashplayer2(beta)
mplayer.i386.fc5 <- important !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(and move xpt, so files to proper directory...i putted them in firefox directory and root/.mozilla directories...)

i tried to use x86_64 fc6 mplayerplugins...didn work....of course, i am using firefox.2.0 i686
who is using 64 bit linux and having problem...plz install 32 bit plugins....
i said only plugins...
and restart firefox
type "aboutlugins"
and there you go, now we can watch prons..
hahaha
more question
ask ur box.
terminal -> in firefox directory -> type ./firefox
if u get error terminal tells you what's going on...
then...
fix it
