Unhappy Why I can't connect to Synaptech Package Manager in Ubunty?

I know how to use synaptic. Used it before with no problem, but after trying to install a printer with cups my synaptic stopped working. I can't add anymore programs. Also the right click button of my mouse stoped working in the firefox so I can't copy and paste anymore. The error I get when trying to install packages is failed to fetch [filename] can't connect to [my ip adress] [port] in my case it's port 8080. I made shure this port is open with $sudo ufw allow 8080 but that didn't help.
I really don't want to go through the trouble of reinstalling the whole o.s. I have ubuntu 10.04 can anyone help?

Unhappy Can't Connect To Symantic, Please Help!

I really need to be able to use Symatic, but since yesterday I can't find a way to connect to it or ubuntu software center. I have Ubuntu 10.04 and I know how to use synaptic, but all of a sudden I lost the ability to download anythig in the packages. When I select a program and begin the installation, it stops and says cannot connect to [my ip]:8080
I remember giving the command $ sudo ufw delete allow 8080 ,before the problems began, but since then I did $sudo iptables -F and $sudo uwf allow 8080 ,but that doesn't change anything, and it also says connect(111:connection refused). I still can't download anything in the repositories. I really need to fix this soon, can someone please help me out?

Try
Code:
sudo ufw disable
to isolate the problem to your firewall. Then I suggest you read this before your next firewall experiment.
And as to your"111:connection refused".....do you have a proxy by any chance?
Maybe your problem is with "sudo"??

I disabled the firewall with sudo ufw disable and I don't have a proxy running and my sudo command works for everything else i do, but the synaptic still doesn't. It has to be something else I just don't know what.

Question How Do I Fix My Synaptic Manager?

I run Ubuntu 10.04 and everything worked fine until I downloaded bunch of games and programs using synaptic and it stopped working. When I try to install anything it tells me to check my internet connetction which i know works just fine, it says that cannot connect to [my_ip]:8080 and I manually opened the port and nothing, i disabled the firewall and have no proxy running, it also gives me the info that connection(111:refused) What do I do?
