Which program to use?

Which program should I use to do the follwoing in ubuntu edgy eft: Save all my settings (not the personal stuff like usernames and documents, like stuff that I changed in a control panel, and stuff I edited in the Terminal) and collection of my programs that I had installed.

Is there a program or set of scripts that could do this?

(I basically want an equivilent of this http://livecd.berlios.de/, except for ubuntu.)
