Key bindings program (custom pasting, program execution, etc.)
The subject probably doesn't make much sense, but I'm not sure how to explain what I'm asking. Basically, I was wondering if there was any program that allows you to use customized keystrokes to paste predefined strings of text into whatever program you have active. For example, typing Alt-Shift-S inserts "Signed, John Smith," or typing ".signature." replaces that text with "Signed, John Smith." Along the same lines, is there some way that I can cause a single key to send some action. I have two extra keys on my keyboard that are supposed to control back and forward in a web browser under Windows. I'd like to map those to some odd character, and have that character either trigger back/forward in Firefox or, as I assume there's no way to do that, at least execute a program or do something useful. Thanks in advance.

I know it can be done. I'll help with the second half of the problem. Firefox will do "previous" and "next" in response to alt+left and alt+right.
I'm not exactly sure where to look for key binding information...

That's true, and now that I think about it it's probably easier to hit Alt-left than these special keys, so I'd rather have them do something else. Pasting preset text would be nice.
