which kernel is the best


which kernel is the best to run .. installing .. compiling ..

i have the last kernel had a qm_modules error .. and i'm try fix the error .. but no way to fix it in redhat 9 ..

anyway . which kernel is the best to linux .. ??

I'm sure there's a way to fix it...
Make sure you installed module-init-tools, and you have modules support compiled into your kernel.

But, best is subjective.
2.4: More stable than 2.6
2.6: Newer, more features, etc.

When they're developing a new version, they use odd numbers (i.e. 2.5). When they release it, they rename it to even (i.e. 2.6). So I'm not sure why you included 2.5.

I personally am enjoying 2.6.4-rc1-love2 very much. It runs stable, fast, and the compiled in bootsplash is absolutel beautiful if set right. I set my desktop wallpaper in flux to match my console and I have a very unified linux right now.
