Question Where to Install?

When I install a program that I want everyone on my system to be able to use, where should I install it to? I've been told I should put it in /usr/local...

I appreciate it, Thanks!

Put it in /usr/local (so that you know what you've installed yourself vs. what the system installed via initial installation or RPMS), and run "chmod 755" to make it available to all users (ensure all users have /usr/local/ in their path).
