Where is My Desktop

Chromebook with AMD A4 processor Debian 11. I'm at a loss here. Have tried Gnome, KDE, Cinnamon at different times but I have never been able to get an actual desktop to appear on any of them. I do get the suite of Linux app in the Linux Folder but the actual desktop that comes with each package is unobtainable. I must be doing something wrong but no clue what. Each district was install using Tasksel.
Help! I'm about ready to give up on Linux.

Have you tried running the 'startx' command from the Linux terminal? That should start up the GUI, assuming you installed the whole desktop.

You are expecting a different answer to when that was asked in their other thread?

I haven't read the other thread, but I can say this about this one: [i]"Not enough concrete information to be able to meaningfully help you." The devil is in the details.

For instance: "Exactly how" did you try to "install a desktop?" Then, when the computer starts up, "exactly what" do you see? (A terminal prompt on a character-mode screen?) Do you see "error messages?" Do you see "a blank graphic screen?"
