VLC usage difficulty
Hello there,
I've been trying to record video with sound using VLC but have been unable to do so.I need to capture the video from the composite input of my tuner card.It is the Haupauge Wintv Nova S plus. The audio input of this card does not function under Linux, therefore I need to capture sound via the on board line in socket with Alsa.
I don't seem to be able to achieve success.I have tried to capture video with /dev/video /dev/video0 and /device/video1.The ability to use the various video settings was being affected/overridden by the usb webcam I had connected. Also the the audio device was being compromised.Despite setting capture to /dev/video,//dev/video0,/device/video1 VLC would connect to the webcam.
Having resolved the problem of the web cam by removing it I need to use the right combination of /dev/video and /dev/audio.
For audio which property should I use with /dev/ is it, adsp,audio,audio1,dsp,dsp1,mixer,mixer1?
I've spent quite a bit of time and effort but seem to keep hitting the same
end result.No audio capture.
Thanks trustytrev
