User friendly beginner guide to PGP

Im still just really a starter with linux and I was about to download a game, and it said on it if you want to check that the download is secure please use this pgp key to do so, the question I want to ask is what is this about? Is there a very user friendly way to use this security feature? If so - what does this feature do that makes it more secure and what is the user friendly way to use it? Thanks

Some questions:

1. What distribution are you using?

2. How are you planning to install this game? (eg. Yum, Apt, compiling from source, or .deb/.rpm package)
