Ubuntu "Breezy Badger" 5.10 and WinE - Installation

I am attempting to install WinE using the instructions provided on the WinE site, but I am not having any luck. It looks like it is doing something, but then when it looks like it is finished and nothing is going on, nothing seems to have happend. Any help appreciated.

I don't have any experiance installing wine by hand, but I do believe that Ubuntu has some version of Wine in Universe apt-repository. Maybe you could try to install that?
