Ubuntu team has released a maintenance update for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. The latest Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS is ready to download or upgrade. This is the first maintenance update for Ubuntu 10.04 which is ubuntu[5]having lot many security fixes and bug fixes. Ubuntu 10.04 LTS is going to be supported with maintenance updates and security fixes until April 2013 for desktops and April 2015 for Servers.
Does "apt-get upgrade" upgrade to 10.04.1? Or I should reinstall Ubuntu to get 10.04.1?
No and no.
You would also need to "apt-get dist-upgrade", although I believe that ubuntu provides a script you can run that will do this for you. As always, you should read the documentation.
No need to reinstall, of course. It's just convenient for people who are coming to Ubuntu just now. It's a bit like a slipstreamed windows install cd/dvd. If you already have ubuntu installed, you will have received the changes as individual updates.
jay73, I don't quite understand you... Do you mean that simple upgrade will bring your system to 10.04.1? What about the kernel, installer and other stuff that comes with particular distro version?
