I really couldn't get past the second race... just got under the required time for the first... I need a bit more practice.
... I've really enjoyed sending tux to terminal velocity than seeing him fly up a ramp... haven't focused on winning that much. When I get past the second race I'll let you know....
Do you really have to get all the Herrings? I think you should... Spooge maybe you should put the breaks on when you get sight of the fish (bunny hill is the only race i can ever advance from so you know I'm no expert.
Sifvion, I'm no expert but maybe you'd see the problem in the FAQ (part of that huge READMe file that is available on the nvidia website and in the tar files...
Can you tell me what you did to get your x up? I need it urgently, i cant do much in console as i not familiar with the command and my screen kept flashing after certain time off and on.
Sifvion - you can stop X by using linux single - more info at redhat.com.
Once you have the console available, login as root and change the "nvidia" driver in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to "nv" (e.g. using emacs - ctrl-x ctrl-s to save, ctrl-x ctrl-c to quit).
You can then start troubleshooting from inside X if you like. /var/log/XFree86.0.log is X's log - this should help you find where things are going wrong.
1. Once the speed bar hits yellow, stop pressing forward, and Tux will glide at a faster speed.
2. Use back to do a hard brake (useful for the second course in particular).
3. Swerve from side to side to build up speed.
Sifvion - it doesn't matter whether you have the RPM installed or not - you can still use the "nv" driver because that is within the XFree86 RPMs and not those from NVidia. The "nvidia" doesn't modify the "nv" driver at all.
I don't think you have to uninstall the rpms, as Danrees metioned, just restore your old XF86Config-4 file. If you do want to uninstall, rpm -e packagename should do it.
Easiest I think is to type setup at the console and choose to run the video setup tool or type Xconfigurator... the best case scenario is that the setup recognizes your system and all you have to do is press enter (except maybe for the video ram). After this you should be back to your default configuration.
As I said, Just type setup and run the video configuration tool, it will replace your config file with a new one. (I'm no expert here, but I think that's what happens).
In my honest opinion, it's either the video configuration was incorrect or your something is wrong with your hardware. Keep in mind I have a limited capacity of assessing your problem so I apologize.
I believe you should start a new thread with a subject like "help, I messed up my X!" or "restoring X" and be very detailed about what you have done and what error messages show. This would better help readers get an idea of what is wrong and where to start.
