Turn off image thumbnail caching on KDE 3.5.2??

Is it possibly to prevent KDE Thumbnail Generator from automatically caching the thumbnails in ~/.thumbnails

I would like the thumbnail generator to show me previews of image files, but not create a massive archive of them that I have to preiodically delete..

Try changing the write permissions on the directory.

That's really more a workaround than a fix, and would KTG work propperly, if it has nowhere to store the images, even temporarily?
