trying to empty trash

ok, when i go to empty the trash there is a bunch of files .Plo mostly that i havn't permission to empty. is there away to give myself permission or what can i do i this situation. Just can't understand why i have permission to move these files to trash first of all if i don't have permission to empty them,

Have you tried this action as root? Possibly someone else set the permissions for the file, if so then that user has to change the permissions... However I believe Root should be cleared to wipe anything on your system regardless...

yea but when i go in as root, there is no files in the trash for some reason.

So is there any other way around this?

I think you shoud type cd ~<username>/Desktop/Trash as root. You can also use a graphic browser to go to /home/<username>/Desktop/Trash as root. (<username> being your username, of course).

Have you checked to see if the files might be hidden - Attribute settings?
