Trap keys with xscreensaver

Hi,
I have a bit of a problem. I'm in college and have a room mate. Sometimes I end up leaving my computer turned on playing music, and when I leave the screensaver (xscreensaver) comes on and locks the desktop, so my room mate can't turn the music off without turning my laptop all the way off. I control the volume on my computer through an xmms plugin called itouch that grabs my volume keys and relays the message to turn the volume down to xmms then through alsa. I would like to be able to still have just the three keys (volume up, volume down, and mute) to be useable even if the desktop is locked. I don't want to have to leave the screen locking off when I'm gone, as I don't necessarily want him messing with my stuff. I just want him to be able to change the volume when I'm gone, but when the screen is locked, those keys are disabled and the enter password screen comes up whenever he presses them. Is there any way to allow these keys to work while the screen is locked?

Thanks,
Marshall

Did some quick experiments and could not have any type of key sequence work. Might ask the developers of xscreensaver and see they have any input.
