I have a problem with my FreeBSD 5.3 box:
I keep receiving the following message (kernel panic ?)

I'm using the GENERIC FreeBSD kernel....

Here is my hardware configuration :

Processor : AMD K6-II 266 MHz (I know it's old ; I will have a full upgrade soon )
Motherboard : ACorp 5VIA77,
Chipset VIA MVP3 (Apollo)
RAM : 128MB+32MB+16MB = 176MB
Video Card : Leadtek WinFast A180B T 128 DDR (nVIDIA GeForce4 MX4000)
Sound Card : C-Media 8738
HDD :Quantum Fireball EX5.1A ( ~4.77 GB)
Fujitsu MPB3021ATU (~2.1GB)
CD-RW : ASUS QuieTrack 5232AS (52x32x52x)
WinModem : Lucent 56 kbs
Swap : 130 MB

Last time, this message appeared when I was browsing the FreeBSD packages with sysinstall...
Can anyone tell me what is this all about ??

Pop open your case and remove your RAM and reseat it. It sounds like you have some RAM that is starting to go bad. Sometimes just reseating the DIMMs helps.

What do you mean by removing/ 'reseating' the RAM ?
Just remove and put it back and that's it ?
I don't think my RAM is the problem... but if you say so I'll try that

Yes. Just remove it and put it back. It may or may not fix your problem. I had found somebody who had the same error message as you and followed the same steps and it took care of the problem. If you think it won't help, don't do it.

I also had the same problem
When we try to install from dvd got the the error like this shown in the link
