Umm, not sure what sort of keyboard you are using.. but the tilde is the cute little ~ character.. Which should be a simple matter of shift and ` or ~ key.. Is just under the escape key in most cases.. Good luck..

With a French keyboard, it is AltGr+2 (AltGr is the right-side Alt key).
You'll have to tell what keyboard layout you use...

If it's the UK keyboard layout, the tilde is just above '#' (next to the return key)

(I'm not sure where it would be for any other keyboard layout, although I did get pretty good at typing them blind because I set the wrong keyboard layout...)

Eureka ! Kombination Found !

Eureka!

I've found the manual of microsoft ms-dos 5.0 ( 1991 ! ) browsing everything in my garage and found the right keyboard layout on it : tilde in italian keyboard is ALT + 1 (from numeric pad) + 2 (from numeric pad) + 6 (from numeric pad)
thank you anyway for the time you gave me !

ciao

Yeah, the good old DOS manual. Gotta love it! Version 5.0 was the best one, too! I've still got mine as well, and was recently considering throwing it out, but your post has changed my mind.

Yeah,I loved dos 5.0 too..and too much to throw it away ! the 6.22 version was a step to win 3.1 and much less a true stable os in my opinion..you could see uncle bill was going to semplify all and take you to win 95..but true os underlays on command line still too..that's why i prefer linux !

Hail to King Tux !

Ciao
