Thunderbird shared Local Folder

In my system I have two hard drives; one with SUSE 10 and one with Win XP. Currently, all my mail sits on the Windows drive in the Thunderbird folder.

I've set up Thunderbird in SUSE and now I'm trying to access the mail on the Windows drive so that I can always have the same mails regardless of which system I'm on. I've changed the mail folder to point to the Windows folder.

Now I can see my e-mail folder structure in SUSE, but Thunderbird only says "Building summary file for [folder]..." and does nothing else. I've left it to it but nothing happens, it doesn't even seem to be accessing the Windows drive.

Anything I'm missing here?

So would creating a FAT32 partition on my main drive and putting the Thunderbird mail folders on there solve this? Would I be able to write to the FAT32-partition from Linux (as in messages being stored in Sent, moved around, etc.)?
