shared folder

I have created a shared folder /home/varun/shared.
I have set permission to 777.
But I am not able copy / paste from other systems.
It says permission denied.

How to make it read/writable for all system on the lan ?

You have to setup access in samba as well, just like on Windows you have share permissions and NTFS permissions.

Show us your smb.conf, or at least the part that defines the homes share.
