The Alcatel Frog + Drake 9.0

Can ANYONE PLEASE, help me with this.. im literally desperate....

I have installed drake 9.

Cool, it supports my modem, oh, but it needs mgmt.o - fine, i need to download that and just copy it into /usr/share/speedtouch. done that.

the modem lights a lifeless.

I try the drakconnect, whatever it may be called, it can detect my network card, and thats it, it still cant detect / use / anything my modem... grr.

Ive downloaded countless files / patchs / drivers, christ knows what they do, I dont. They come with makefiles, binarys, readmes, jeeze.

Can anybody give me a step by step, eg copy this here, delete that, plug this in, in order to get this bastard modem to work ?

many thanks, ive tried tutorials, this is my last resort... !!

If you do everything in that howto to the letter, it'll work.
I know 'cause I tried a lot distro's with my alcatel ADSL modem and everytime it was a success.
Fact that your lights are still off, might indicate that the firmare isn't uploaded to the speedtouch.
try modem_run -f <path/to/mgmt.o> -m
the lights should switch on then.

i had a lot of problems too.

The cvs link you were pointed to saved my life. It does work just persevere and check your logfiles for errors.

Did you setup pap-secrets?? or the ppp config files???

email me on aiw2@staffs.ac.uk if you still have probs will send you my config files. I dont check here often enough to revieve many replies.

btw mgmt.o worked for me not the sys file
