tar this does not look like a tar archive exit depalyed from previous error

I tried to untar the backup.tar.gz
I got this error: tar: ./sys/module/parport_pc/sections/.strtab: Cannot open: File exists
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

I unzip by running this command: gzip -d backup.tar.gz and then I untar it by tar -xpvf backup.tar

I got the same error again. I also exclude the sys folder. It doesn't help.

Do you guy have any idea?
