System halts but doesnt power down laptop

Hi

i finally got KDE 3.3 installed and It works fine so far except for when I click shutdown at the end of my session..it gives allt he usual message and then it stops at "system halted." and it waits for me to power off my laptop by pushing and holding the power button (for like one second).

it used to power the pc down itself when I had KDE 3.1

any suggestions?

thanx in advance,
Boomba

Are you using an ACPI enabled kernel or loading APM?

In order to get my computer to turn off automatically at shutdown I had to do this:

uncomment (or add) this line to /etc/rc.d/rc.modules
Quote:
/sbin/modprobe apm
to load it type "modprobe apm"
