s2ram refuses to work because it doesn't identify the system.

If I use
s2ram -f, suspend works except the screen stays blank afterwards - i.e. problem with the graphics card and/or driver. I know the system was functional because
shutdown -r now worked.
Hardware: Motherboard is a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum, NF3-250Gb chipset; Athlon64 3200+; 1GB ram; 300 GB SATA hdd; Nvidia Quadro500 AGP graphics.
