Swiftfox built for i586?

I cant find much info about a classic pentium build of swiftfox, any post I found on their forum are either unanswered or offer no solution. Has anybody heard of such a thing?

Personally I have never had much luck trying to use swiftfox. Iceweasel works perfectly for me.

I didnt see that on their page before, my bad. I noticed a significant differance switching to swiftfox on my p4 machine. I was hoping for something that would be a little faster on my craptop. Firefox/iceweasel is sloooow on that thing.

You could always grab the firefox source code and compile it yourself.

Tweaking Firefox/Iceweasel tends to speed up the internet part, and using prelink helps it load much faster.

My Iceweasel user.js tweaks:

How to load programs faster (prelink)?
Install package: prelink
(sudo apt-get install prelink)
sudo cp /etc/default/prelink /etc/default/prelink.`date +%y%m%d-%H%M%S`
Edit "/etc/default/prelink" as root, and find this line:
PRELINKING=unknown
Change it to:
PRELINKING=yes
Exit from kwrite, saving the file.
sudo prelink -avmR
sudo /etc/cron.daily/prelink

I will check prelink out, does it cause any more ram to be used? I have a gig on my main box so there isnt a problem, but the laptop only has 80 megs.

No it doesn't use any more ram than usual. With only 80megs you might want to take a look at Opera it uses much less ram than Firefox does.

Wow, prefetch does speed things up. I installed it on my p4 box and now when I click on something POW there it is. That should help the laptop seem considerably more responsive. I will try opera and see how it runs.

Thanks!
