nvidia driver install in suse 8.2, lot easier than on red hat 9 that i installed the other day, only half the steps.

1.downloaded the nvidia driver-NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run
2.open up a terminal, type this-
a.su -
b.root password
c.telinit 3
3.will get ya into the text shell-do this-
a.username
b.password
c.should get this $
d.type su -
e. enter password, should get prompt #
3. need to change to directory where the nvidia driver is- on my rig, i typed this next- cd /home/ronss/Documents, hit enter
4. install driver by typing this-sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run
5. this should start the install, follow directions
6. now to get back to desktop, type telint 5

okay , the nvidia is installed, now open terminal and type this command-sax2 , next enter your root password

click on graphics card, and you must enable 3d acceleration by enabling it

reboot , that,s it.

my screensavers run so much better than on red hat 9 for some reason, bit faster and smoother
