Question Stripped down live cd/usb with mono

Hello,
I've been pounding away at .net for ages developing a real time embedded system controller for small Remotely Operated Vehicles.

The user interface is in c# which I love. I found that it could be run in Linux with Mono and decided to try it out.

Now my ideal solution would be to send out technicians out with some linux distro with our program running on mono. This solution would stop them from messing up the computers we give them.

In other words, is there any way I can setup a live-cd or usb drive (better) with some kind of stripped down linux distro running some GUI and with mono runtime support?

I've tried debian distro with
lh_config -b usb-hdd -p gnome-desktop -m ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/

but its 2+ gb. Is there any way I can get this down to a few hundred megs? Or even another distro would do me fine.

Thanks in advance!!
Paul
