strange issue in YAST

Hi
I am facing a strange issue in my LINKAT image running under VMWARE player

1) When I go to System > Install Software, a window gets displayed showing
"terminate called after throwing an instance of 'YUIPluginException'
what(): Couldn't load plug-in gtk
YaST got signal 6 at YCP file Wizard.ycp:691
/sbin/yast2: line 437: 9713 Aborted $ybindir/y2base $module "$@" "$SELECTED_GUI" $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS
"

2) I tried running the yast from root
yast --gt
yast --ncurses

both the commands run perfectly fine.

I really have no idea on what has gone wrong

what happens when you use the terminal

when I use the commands
yast --gt
yast --ncurses
I get the following message

I dont have zypper installed in my system , due to company access priviledges
therefore , when I use the command
su- zypper up
I get
su : user zypper does not exist

from root directory

or 
sudo -c zypper up

IF you are on the sudo list

of course there IS NO USER CALLED zypper
YOU told the system to LOG IN THE USER "zypper" . zypper is not a user but the program to add and remove software
that is TEXT only and runs in the terminal -- no GUI
please copy and past CORRECTLY commands

also what version of suse are you using ? 11.3 is the current
