hi

i'm a beginner in using linux.

i just bought my new aspire 3000 about a month and i want to try some linux os. i borrow from my friend a LINUX REDHAT AS4. and i try to install it.

but there a problem:
1. i cant resize my resolutions of my display it has just 640x480 or 800x600
2. when i press the crtl+alt 1 until 6 the screen is going black no response at all.
3. it also no sound.

well, i need to know a few things, and most can be answered with the output of lspci, sometimes /sbin/lspci... anywya, i need to know the video card type and sound card type... usually when you post in a forum, they willneed to know your system as best as you can describe it. the resolution could be cause you dont have the display drivers right, or the screen isnt being configureed properly, and sound it pretty simple, just need to know what kind of card it is.

ok, well you still didnt do it though. open a terminal, and type lspci and post the results... you can also type:

lspci > lspci.txt

to output the info to a text file that you can ten attacth to your post. taht is what i need to help you. you are probably running with vesa right now.

note: if lspci doesnt work, you can try /sbin/lspci or su to root and run it. anyway i need that output.
