Yes, the speakers are on, lol, and mandrake's volume seems to be up (Kmix is on with the volume) I'll plug in a cd, and linux will recognize it. It will start playing, but no sound. Any help? Thanks
is this only a sound problem with cd audio? if your mp3's will play in something like xmms, then it could be that your cd audio level is not high enough
in kmix, make sure cd audio is set high and unmuted; make sure you have a cord from the back of your cd drive to your sound card; make sure the modules for your sound card are loaded
you need to provide more information about what system you using and the type of sound card and current drivers using etc would help a lot more .. mandrake have a habbit of turning off the valume on things with aumix if you have it installed open it up and see what it is showing
To play a cd with Linux, a small wire should be connected from your cd-rom player directly to the mother board/sound card...without > no sound at all !!
