ok I run fedora2 and recently installed RealPlayer10GOLD for mp3 support, but seems to have stuffed up my sound all together, now I only get sound through one speaker instead of both. :-S

We need more detail:

1) Which soundcard?
2) Running default kernel, i.e. ALSA, or have you recompiled with OSS?
3) Does this occur just with realplayer, or other apps, too?
etc.

I'm sure you can ask and answer for us the important questions you would be asking yourself.
