Sound Card Aureal

I just received an old Compaq Presario 5140 machine, around 2003 model and installed Debian Sqeeze on it. Everything seems to be working except for the onboard sound card, which is an Aureal model. Is it possible to get this working? All the basic sound drivers are installed, such as soundcore, snd, etc...

Looking at the alsa matrix, which show three models, I'm not sure which one may work.

Any ideas/suggestions on getting this to work?

don't shoot me for stating the obvious but sound mixer on new installs is always muted so check that.
then you try to play a .wav file with the command aplay.

Cannot open a mixer, when I try, it show, /dev/mixer not found or something similar.

I'll go through the link I posted earlier when I'm not in lazy mode.
