I had the same problem, but I use a router. The Netgear lady told me to step down the MTU, as was suggested before. I tried 1500, 1400, ... all the way down to 900 before it worked on Windows. You then have to change the software (RH9 instructions here...http://www.luni.org/pipermail/luni/2...er/007773.html) for it to work. It worked for me.

Thanks Phil and others,
I was having the same problem on my Red Hat 9. I could browse some sites and not others. Konquer and Mozilla acted the same on the same pages. I could not even down load Netscape because of this. I also go through a router to access the internet. (US Robotics 8054 (wired, can't figure out wireless YET!))
To make a long story short I used vi and edited my
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file and added the MTU=1400.
(1500 did not work)
Now I am browsing without a hitch!
Thanks a million!
I have same problem on my ASUS matherboard, it build in one 3c940 giga lan card. I try every things i can, include above, but i get same conclusion. can not access google.com.
maybe U do something wrong ... the module is well installed ? try lsmod ?
just add "alias eth0 sk98lin" to your modules.conf and reboot ... or stop network , rmmod 3c2000 (if it's loaded), insmod sk98lin and start network
same as the other guys, new installation of mandrake 9.2, asus motherboard p4p800 deluxe with the 3com 940 gigabit eth card, the drivers from their site are the 3c2000, they work but they are buggy, google opens some of the times, usually connection times out, with all browsers (text and gparhics based) (at the same time, yahoo opens always). Some sites work some not, very frustrating.
The sk98lin driver downloaded here installs automatically and works fantastic. Replaced the 3c2000 and everything is fine. Wish I had some money to donate to these guys, they certainly deserve it, unlike 3com that makes all the money and does not provide proper support...
Thanks to this forum too, I found this answer I couldnt find anywhere else on the web for 3 days now ! Well done!
