"Smart" ftp client?

In my previous life as a Windows user, I had a tool called SitePublisher which was essentially a smart ftp client. It compared dates on the local and target machines, and would only send files that had been modified since the last update.

This was a fabulous tool for remote development of a web system. I used it a lot. Now I'm fully commited to Linux, but all I can find are things like ncftpput which don't seem to have a "smart" flag on them.

Is anybody aware of a decent work-alike for Linux?

Thanx,
Jefficus

Quanta Plus has a project manager that lets you do this. You can download your existing website into Quanta and set it up as a project fairly easily. It's one of the most intuitive non-WYSIWYG web development packages I've ever used. Check it out. It's worth installing KDE just to use it. Most distros include it as part of KDE, or you can get the bleeding edge source here:

http://quanta.sourceforge.net/.
