Should my kernel version change


I just upgraded to redhat 9 should the vmlinuz and in? file change versions. right now they are at 2.4.7-10

I don't know a lot about RH but what did you upgrade FROM? Secondly, if you want to know your actual kernel version type "uname -r" as root. I don't know what the "in?" file is. Did you misspell it? If not, where is it located?

he is referring to the initrd-x.x.x.img file i would assume, just didn't remember at the time when typing this, what it was actually called..
and yes if you upgraded i would assume they would change as in turn the kernel changed with the upgrade...
