Setting up network printer on Debian

I feel slightly stupid, but I am having trouble getting my network printer setup on Debian Wheezy. I'm using the system-config-printer (which worked without issues on my Ubuntu 12.04 based Bodhi).

On Wheezy it isn't detecting any printers on the network automatically:

If I point it to the IP address of the printer, it sees it:

However, once I click through the prompts selecting the proper driver, clicking apply at this last screen simply doesn't do anything:

Any suggestions?

On my Ubuntu based machine it auto detects the network printer at the first screen:

And it doesn't even prompt me to select a driver. Any suggestions? I'm kind of at a loss here. I even tried launching the printer tool via terminal, but no useful output was posted there.

Any suggestions for alternative printer configuration tools?

install cups and I like the driver set from gutenprint

open web browser and go to

http://localhost:631/admin

click on add printer.....popup should input....root and your passwd

then you should see network printers

I can't snapshot an exact image but can show where it should be as I have an usb printer ....not a network one

-------

if networks don't appear....maybe network discovery is not working....cups as a help page

http://localhost:631/help/network.html

2) If you found this post helpful, any chance your team can get the correct licenses into the docs?
--according to my eyesight this does not appear to have been done

I understand I am naughty for introducing other forum "fora" but I have no way of contacting you,
for reasons you may remember.

I understand from one of the license holders, you were busy and were going to get around to it.

so forgive me for reminding you.

Adding Cups Printer to Debian

to do this in Debian I had to launch Iceweasel from a Root Terminal using 'iceweasel http://localhost:631/admin'

Otherwise enter root and root password and all went well.
