Sax2 freezes

Sax2 freezes when i check the activate 3d acceloration button after i tell it to save the configuration. Then it won't load again unless i reboot or restart x. It freezes up and then when i try to close out of it, it says this program is not respongind etc. etc. and if i wanna terminate it or keep it running. I'm running openSUSE 10.2 with ati drivers.

here's more information, i was trying to get all the buttons on my logitech 510mx and i was playing with the configs in the xorg.conf file. so i gave up trying and then i went into sax one last time and it saw that 3d acceloration wasn't checked so i tried to fix that and thats when it started freezing, then i replaced the xorg.conf file again with a recent one before i modifyed everything and then went to init3 then to init5 and thats when i started getting that it needs more softare or something.

so apparently banging the keybaord and 5 reboots gets it working again. great now i'm having problems with the dang graphics driver now. i have my vertical and horizontal rates set for my monitor correctly i think, when i say i think i'm not to sure because i set them in sax and whenever i hit ok and reboot and go back the horizontal changes from 24-80khz to 30-80khz and it won't go anylower for some reason. Now i can't get 1280 by 1024 resolution.
