I realize this is a little late to the thread, but if others are looking for an answer, I ran into a situation where the storage temporarily disconnected to the system, which caused Linux to switch to Read-only upon reconnect. In my case it's a virtual machine with the storage running on a SAN. If the connection is restored, reboot your Linux machine (or vm) and it should go back to normal.
