I am trying to install RedHat 7.3 onto a machine but I keep getting the following error.
The kernel was unable to re-read the partition table on /tmp/hda (Device or resource busy). This means Linux knows nothing about any modifications you made. You should reboot your computer before doing anything with /tmp/hda
I have de partitioned the dish with FDisk and Disk Druid but I am still having no luck. I have also tried to use LILO and Grub as boot loaders.
grab a old dos boot disk and do partition work with normal fdisk then write down your partition tables so you later knwo which partitions to format with linux filesystem and woop youre done dos fdisk should also give you a well usable mbr to install your grub or lilo to...
I still cant get this to work, i have formatted the disk with FDisk which was on a DOS boot disk.
I have deleted all partitions with it, then started RedHat Text installer, used FDisk to create partitions and format them, but I still get the same error.
If I say ignore the error, it will start the install process but only install 506 packages, even if I ask for a full install.
strange thing but you are sure you did your job right with cfdisk - easier setup a boot, swap and root and maybe a storage partition? can you please write down your partition table and post it here?
With RedHat 7.3 & 8.0 installs I get the same error message but NOT with version 9.0, If I choose to ignore the error message and continue with the install, when the machine reboots I get the following messages during the boot process
Red Hat Nash version 3.4.28 starting
