Angry RH 7.0 > 7.1 upgrade problems

Hi,
I hope someone can answer my question. I have a desktop machine which triple boots NT/W2K/RH7.0, everything runs fine. I upgraded to RH7.1 and my GUI goes nuts, I change run levels to 3 and ran Xconfigurator, every thing shows as ok, except when it does the "probe" it comes back with an error and will not let me go any further. I have checked the HCL's and my Video card is listed as good ( Vodoo Banshee) I dont understand!!! I also tried a clean install on a spare HD same result......Like I said it works great under 7.0. The Distro works fine on my laptop....go figure

ok... i don't use red hat, but i've seen others with this same type of problem, upgrading from 7.0 to 7.1. i know that rh7.0 uses X4.0.1 - what does version rh7.1 use for X? it seems to me that the problem should have something to do with the setup messing with the XF86Config file.

Wink

Thank you for your help, turns oout to be an XFree86 problem that was well known. The upgrade to 4.1.0 cleared it up.
