Removed linux partitions, now won't boot to windows!

Hello,

I had SuSE installed on my computer, i just deleted the linux partitions and now my computer wont boot. It just hangs when "GRUB" is displayed...how do i get grub off, and boot normally into windows!?

Thank you in advance for all of your help!

Okay i've instered my Win XP disk and entered the Recovery Console to fix the MBR...but it keeps asking for the Admin password, i keep entering it but it won't budge. I've tried all the bootable floppies that can write over it, but (they're all linux) i always get the error "VFS: Insert Root Floppy" and i'm 100% positive i'm creating the floppies correctly.

Does anybody know if the XP admin account has a back door pw?

Thanks...
E.

Hi

You have to write your MBR new (and remove GRUB in this way).

Use a DOS boot floppy and type at the DOS prompt:

fdisk /MBR

Maybe you will also have to set your WINDOWS partition with fdisk as active (bootable).

I know it sound a rude way, but try to install windowze again....boot with windows CD and reinstall it. Maybe this will help.
I'm really astonished about that bad command on fdisk....

Hi

If you are using a windows (9x,ME) boot floppy, fdisk shoud be in the root directory of your floppy disk.
Type dir and look for the file fdisk.exe.

If you are using a DOS boot floppy, the program fdisk may reside in a directory call dos.

Type:

cd dos

fdisk

If that dosn't work, try to get a windows (9x, ME) boot floppy. The disk could easly be created with any running windows 9x/ME.

Hi

GRUB is not part of the slack-9.1 distro.
But installing GRUB or LILO should solve your problem.
