remote backup suggestions?

Hello,

I want to start doing off-site backups. I can get an online storage account that i can access through webDAV or ftp. Is there a good backup software/application for linux? Should I use rsync?

It is important to me that deleting the local copy of a file shouldn't delete the backed up file.

Any thoughts?

I guess it depends how many systems (& types) you are backing up.
rsync is very popular if you roll your own soln for a few machines.

I'm really just looking to back up one system. The keys are that the system be automated and not delete files from the backup if they are accidentally deleted from the host.
