Registry calls for Linux

I am trying to port one of our applications from windows to unix/linux.

There are a number of registry calls in the code such as:

RegOpenKeyEx
RegQueryValueEx
RegCloseKey

Is there an equivalent for these calls on linux? I have downloaded a package called wine. I'm not sure if this is the way to go...

Any help apreciated.

Regards, Dan.

Replace those with a config file. Those usually reside in '/etc'. if it is a config setting on a user level, user's home directory may be more appropriate to save the configuration file.

if you were intending to port this as a full Gnome application, then it has the GConf framework, equivalent to a registry, but i'd assume you're not heading into such a comprehensive porting scenario, more of a quick fix, in which case, yep.. config files.

Cheers lads,

the config entries were the way to go.

I don't suppose you know if there is any need for me to write linux code for the following calls:

GetMessage
DispatchMessage

It seems this is again windows specific, dispatching messages to window procedures.

I'm thinking I should just #ifdef out this particular block...

Any thoughts?

Cheers, Dan.

you shouldn't assume that we somehow know all the win32 API's....
