X Customization - blank screen problem RedHat7.3 & XP
I have a problem with Linux installation. I installed on a new system which I just purchased - Compaq Presario 6016US, and ViewSonic VA520 Flat Panel Display.

-Processor Brand AMD Athlon™ XP 1800+
-Graphics Integrated nVidia GeForce2 graphics


The installation software selects my monitor during Custom X Configuration and the video card. I have a flat panel display ViewSonic VA520. The system defaults to:
- NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX (generic) video card
- DDC Probed Monitor and selects VSCba07 type of monitor.

This installation worked during my first attempt ( it was set to 1024x768 screen resolution)

However during consecutive and repeated attempts to install linux after I neede to re-install, during X Customization, after clicking on Test Settings button for Customize Graphics Configuration, the screen goes dark and stays blank FREEZES.

I don’t know what causes this problem and how to resolve it.
First installation – the GUI environment worked just fine.
The next installations, done the same way do not.
