Recompiling kernel without ide-scsi emulation

I was recently informed that an installation of ut2004 would go over well if ide-scsi emulation was taken out of the kernel. I want to recompile my kernel anyways from 2.4.22 to 2.6.7 but I want to know what option I should take out in the kernel config thingy gotten from running make gconfig. If what I am trying to do is stupid, please tell me...but any help is appreciated, thanks.
