really strange error in mandrake 10

hi,

i noticed a really strange error in mandrake 10:

when i start the control center (e.g. to configure network stuff), i get prompted for root password, when i enter the root password, the control center screen says it is loading, but nothing happens, it stays in the state of loading........and i have to kill the process

now the really strange thing about this:

this only happens when i started some other processes before e.g. firefox, xmms etc., if i open the control center right after i logged on to the system, the control center starts without freezing!

when the control center crashes (or whatever one can call this behaviour) , i still can start the control center applications manually by typing
"harddrake2" etc. in the terminal, but waiting for the control center to crash is a nuisance and an inconvenience, so:

has anybody experienced this strange behaviour, too?
does anybody know how to fix this?

thanks in advance, dan

I experienced similar behaviour when I was trying some of Cooker rpms (drakconf, perl, ...). Everything was ok after re-installing older rpms.

This error occured after I upgraded mandrake control center (drakconf etc.) rpms from cooker. Then I removed them and installed rpms (older version than the cooker rpms) from cd.
(sorry about my English)
